When will it stop?

July 14th is Independence Day for the nation of France. Instead of celebrating a traditional holiday, the people of France experienced yet another, horrific terror attack. People around the world are expressing their sadness through social media.

"When will it stop?’ Social media users are asking this question after learning about the deadly attack in Nice, France. Dozens were killed and more than 100 injured when a truck plowed into a crowd celebrating Bastille Day in the resort city in southern France."

Andrew Peek, a former US Army Intelligence officer who writes for the Daily Mail, lists several reasons why France has been a target for terrorist acts.

“The French are a target for a third reason, as well. They are seen as vulnerable. Americans had some good laughs at France’s expense before the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Its reluctance to overthrow Saddam Hussein, combined with its humiliating six-week collapse to the Germans in 1940 make the French into international symbols of weak-willed pacifism.”
